Lou, So sorry for your loss. As God has said these bodies are not meant for eternity. Dogs unfortunately have a relativly short life,..usually 15 years max. But they bring great love and companionship while here on this earth. I have a Cocker Spaniel that will be 15 yr. old next month. He too has a incurable disease (Cushing's Disease) but it is treatable with medication to curtail the symptoms.I am not looking forward to the day I may have to put him down. He has been my best buddy and a great dog in general. But like others have said,..you may find another dog sometime to bring you that great feeling of having a best friend.
