Matt, I dont know which part of the state you occupy but if you'll go back and check the record books you'll find that state HWY 50 between Shady Grove and Anderson Bend was closed for 2 months and more than one portion of HWY 7 between Columbia and Dickson was closed for over 6 months.
If you'll also check the National Weather Service records youll also find out how much rain fell in Centerville during the spring of 2010.
There's no tall tale here, but rather that you didnt see areas of heavy rain. I live in the NW corner of the state and we only saw around 6 inches over those two days which led to only normal flooding of the Obion River in our area. Areas south of here such as Dyersburg and Humboldt saw the heavy flooding similar to Middle TN.
