Well it happened to me today out in the field when i was unplugging my baler .
I grabbed a bit of hay with the pliers and jerked it lose,INSTANT PAIN.WTF!
I looked at my hand and saw a thin blade of hard grass had gone straight trough the fleshy part of the second joint of my pinky finger and on all the way trough the same joint on my ring finger effectively sowing the 2 fingers together. I have no glue how it could happen but it did.
i had to cut the blade between the fingers and use the pliers to jerk those mean pieces out.MORE PAIN, but at least i could go on and finish the unplugging and continue baling.
I'm almost scared of my hay now,... it bites back!
