ronnie........heres the deal, for a 5-nipple sidemount 8N, use a real 12V coil like NAPA 14-IC that uses NO RESISTOR EVER!!! Understand??? 2nd; yer description of "burning points", (0.025") is consistent with BAD CONDENSER. Condensers are known to be BAD right outta the box. Do as yer told, gitta set of NEW POINTS from NAPA along with the IC-14 coil. Usually NEW POINTS have silicon grease capsule for the rubbing block, use it!!! And finally, after you install yer NEW POINTS and NEW CONDENSER; polish the INVISIBLE CORROSION from between the points. Me? I clamp a clean $1-bill between the points and pull. Iff'n yer really cheap, tear a strip from HEAVY brown paper grocery sack and use that.
Finally, keep yer ittchy-twitchy fingers off'n them handy-dandy carb tweek-ums. They aint'chur problem. ........HTH, Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister
