IH has a good row unit and as far as I am concerned a very good system of metering soybeans. A few people had issues with hyd. pressure requirements for the marker valve. I know some people that made 8row 20" bean planters out of 800's and they worked well, I made one out of a 400 but the emergence wasn't as quick and uniform. I wouldn't be a bit afraid of an 800 for soybeans.
