The JD 2955 and JD 3055 where much the same tractor. The 3055 was tweaked a little here and there an that made them harder to work on.
An example of this is the clutch. The JD 2955 had an external slave cylinder that worked a lever linkage to push the throw out bearing. The 3055 has the cylinder right behind the throw out bearing. If you have any issue with it you have to split the tractor to work on it. Have the cylinder leak and you have to split the tractor.
The JD 2955 with 10,000 hours with a loader is just a repair bill waiting to happen. It seems like if anything happens to the hydraulic system you have to rebuild the whole thing to get it to work long term. So great engine but terrible behind the flywheel.
