The "sink" may be a cistern that mounted either above the toilet or in the attic to provide water to the bathroom fixtures. The house is certainly old enough & if it were mine, would have the bathrooms restored with something from the contemporary Thos. Crapper collection. Now those are some regal rump roosts.
