Actually SOCONY had no affiliation with the Mobil brand until SOCONY and Vacuum merged in 1931. S-V coupled Socony's shield logo and pegasus with Vacuum's Mobilgas trademark over the next few years.
The building pictured by the OP would pre date SOCONY's involvement with Mobil (Vacuum).
