Billy you are late to the game. LOL This has been going into effect for more than two years. There has been a two year enacting period for the physicals. Starting Jan 1 2014 you have to have a copy of your physical on file with the each states DOT. The intrastate and interstate driver type is required because there are different rules on the physical cards and some other things based on what type of driving your are doing.

I do not like the government getting more involved in my life. I do think there needed to be something done about the physical for DOT driving. The old system where you just carried a copy of the card with you was full of cheating.
I know several guys that could not pass the DOT physical so they just filled out a card themselves and faked a Doctor's name on it. The new system is supposed to help keep that from happening. I doubt it will but at least this makes some sense.

Most of the guys on here would be driving in state so they would be intrastate drivers. Then you throw in the Ag exceptions and then even fewer of you will need to fool with most of this.

This is not that hard to do. You take a copy of your physical card to your DMV and answer a few questions. You can mail the same thing in if you want. You just have to have a current physical card on file at all times or your CDL is not valid. If your card expires on XX date you have to have the new physical done and send in before that date or your CDL is not valid if checked by law enforcement.
