We have way too many govt. regs. and rules for driving. The bad part is that they treat those of us who use our vehicles for farm use or hauling our pullers and collector tractors just like the big rigs.
I filled out the form and sent my health info to the DMV like a good little boy. LOL
"For hire" means nothing. What it has to do with is COMMERCIAL operations, and a farm is a commercial operation whether we like it or not. Something else to consider is that a lot of states have adopted these regs, not just for interstate trucking, but for intrastate CMVs. It's been going on for 5-6 years at least.
Beyond that, yes, we have too much regulation in some areas. OTOH, do you really want a 17 year old driving an 18 wheeler loaded with hazmat down the road in front of your home? Do you want a 45 year old drunk with a history of black outs doing the same? It would be nice if some common sense was applied to everything, but .gov just don't work that way!
