We always had JD Balers starting with the 336. JD Seller had some good ideas. With no bale on the pan and obviously no power, try tripping the kicker by hand using the lever the bale uses. Onetime I had bent the support you are mentioning and it bound the pipe and attached lever(the thing the bale hits). It takes very little binding to kick late. The Binding in any of the linkages delays kicking. I think it kicks late because the baler bounces a lot and kicker frame flexes just right at times to let it kick late. Another thing the lever that trips the valve might be binding at the bottom bolt(previously mentioned). Also, the detent in the front of the valve might have some rust and dry grease in it. Remove and clean, grease and replace. I started using these kickers since they came out in the 70s. Beat a few to death over the years. I think I am starting to take up to much space here.
