Myself if i am going to pull the head on a diesel that has blow by and throwing WHITE smoke it is time for a rebuild all the way . New sleeves and pistons rings cam bearings having the line bore checked reconditioning the rods on BOTH ends checking the deck of the block for flatness and doing the head complete and making sure the valves are set at the correct height , having the crank checked and reground if needed . THEn having the pump and injectors gone thru . When your done THEN you will have and engine that will preform like it is suppose to . Reringing a wore out engine with out of round sleeves will gain you nothing.
