Need help diaging charging system on a 2640. It will charge intermittently. All the wiring is good, checked individual wires from alt to regulator and all are good. The regulator has power and ground. Brushes look good and I cleaned all connections. It charges if I put power to the field terminal, but does not go real high, stays around 13.6 at 1500 rpm. I feel it should go higher. Also, the charge light does not always come on when it stops charging. The regulator does not seem to put out a high voltage to the field terminal. I am not familiar with Motorola systems, I primarily do car and truck work. Thanks.
