This past Sunday evening I was using my one bottom ripper on my IH 574 tractor on my one field of 5.5 acres. I was heading Westward toward the setting sun. As I was going up the hill I saw my wife walking over to me and our black lab was only steps behind her. Looked beautiful with the setting sun in the back ground.
When her and I got close to each other I stopped and shut the engine off. She had a sad message to tell me. Our 18yr old son has been in trade school for the last 8 weeks. He called and told her that one of his HS class mates and trade school classmate (in the same class room) was found non-responsive in a friend's dorm Sunday morning. They were unable to revive him.
This evening we went to the funeral home. Many, Many of his classmates were there. As we got our chance to give his parents our condolences his father told me, "Good Luck With Your Son at School". I teared up. Their son had told his mom and dad how well our son was doing in their electrical class they were studying.
This has been a very sad day for our town. He was a very popular student in school and an awesome baseball pitcher and player.
