: I just bought an A. It has not hydraulics. Does anyone know how I can put a pump on it, where it would be mounted and what would drive the pump. Also need sources for pump. : Is the Super A built on the same chassis? : I want to put a 3 point hitch on it. : could also use radiator and gas cap, : any sugguestions will be appreciated I see three options: 1. PTO driven pump, but since you don't have a live PTO, you would not have hydraulics with the clutch depressed. 2. Belt driven pump driven from the accessory pully on the crank. This would limit you to a rather anemic pump due to belt drive limitations. 3. Crank driven pump mounted on the front of the tractor and driven from the hand crank provisions on the front of the engine. Depending on how you rig this up, you may need a shock absorbing, flexible coupling. You would not be able to hand crank to start, so electric start is a must. I have seen option 3 implemented on a W-4, seems to work quite well, don't know the source of the pump, but Northern has pumps that may work. A special adapter was custom made for this application. I have been thinking of option 2 on my Farmall B, but at this point I am just in the "thinking" stage. In my case, I don't really care if the hydraulics are dog slow, and am considering using a power steering pump from a 3/4 ton Chevy. I doubt that this would provide sufficient performance for you if you want to add a 3-point. My dad had option 1 on a Farmall M, and it ran a loader well enough. Might be sufficient for a 3-point if you don't mind the hydraulics cutting out when you step on the clutch. Northern has the pump. Good luck
