Nancy, Its not always sugar that causes diabetes. I have had it since 1985.Alot has to do with peoples starch also,(body manufactures chemicals that can't convert it correctly) Some people are born with a weak pancrease,not all,but some.Saying that it's just sugar intake is a bad thing,as saying that having any disease is caused by only one thing the person did was their fault.It's a shame for any person of a young age to contend with any disease,but it happens.Until they stop filling the food we all eat with unknown chemicals,chances are we all will end up with diabetes,and worse.Most type 2 diabetes start at age 55 on,happens more than not.It's a nasty disease.
