You need to determine what kind of magnetic switch(solenoid) you have. The original Ford ones use the starter switch to ground the terminal from solenoid. If it has only one terminal try grounding it. If it has two terminals, you will need to run a hot wire to it and a ground wire. Can be done either way. Using the starter button to ground it or use ign switch to power it . Just has to be hooked accordingly. Almost all other manufacturers run a hot wire from starter switch to the solenoid. An ohm meter will tell you what you have. Other ways to tell but meter is simplest. Also, if the solenoid is 6 volts it may not last long with 12 volts. Starter itself will be ok.
