My best friend in high school was the best man in my wedding (the first one...). He was a long way from being anything but normal. On almost every date he went on he asked the girl to marry him. One finally did and they had three children. He had become a missionary Baptist preacher and lived in Holland for about ten years. During those years I sorta lost touch with him. Last summer I got a call on a Sunday afternoon from him. I had not heard from him in maybe twenty years. The last time was after one of our high school reunions. During the phone call he informed me he was divorced and was now gay and had a partner who I believe to be one of our classmates from high school. I didn't ask a lot of questions at that point. I still wonder why he called me after that many years. He may be sick or something. Either way, it sure took him a long time to figure things out...
