I had posted this question on the implement forum with no reply, so I will try here since there is much more activity. I have a Kinze 2000 planter which has the dry fertilizer attachment. The hoppers look pretty much like John Deere 7000 units or Allis Chalmers units. John Deere planters used a solid casting with screw like threads on it for the metering augers. Early Kinze and Allis Chalmers planters used a 1/4 inch square rod twisted like a cork screw. In the center of the cork screw was a 1/2 inch square shaft with a casting on each end and one in the middle which the 1/4 square rod "cork screw" attached to. I would like to find several of these older type screws/metering augers. Might be interested in some of the castings - middle and ends. Might be some new old stock sitting out there. Kinze does not stock this type anymore .. they went to a solid casting with thread cast on to it - similar to John Deere. Old style is just fine. Might consider the new style. This is an 8 row planter with 4 hoppers. Thank you.
