E-conolight has 6 tube T5 fluorescent fixtures with 54 watt tubes (324 watt total) that they claim are equal to one 400 watt metal halide. I have them in one of the shops and they are super bright. They come on quick. Flick the switch and in three seconds the shop is instantly bright.
I'm not saying you should replace your halides, but someday if you are thinking at doing something these T5's are worth looking into. They have several versions of the 6 tube lights with different price tags and they all look the same in the pictures so I don't know what the difference is in them. Mine are part # E-LN6T5S9NE5 and it looks like they're in the $140 range right now. I'd post a link but I can't figure out how to do it. Jim
