Pretty much a standard around here is a 6" cased well to bedrock, and a deep hole to good water from there. I'm not sure of the current price, but ten years ago about $8 a foot was the going rate. Of course, pipe, pump, electric, tank, etc, was extra. We drilled a well here for the barn, to 400', and piped it about 1000' to the barn and further to two tank waterers at a cost of about $12K total. It was on an FSA project that I did the labor, and the cost outlay by CREP was $21K, cost shared to $18K or so. We had over 20 gallons of recovery at 400', so it's a great well...
