OH, by the way, getting into an accident while being overloaded can lead to criminal charges, and more than just wrongful death. In overweight/unsecured trailer/unsecured load cases charges can range from reckless endangerment to negligent homicide to manslaughter. Plus you hurt or kill someone trying to save a couple of bucks you will have to live with that for the rest of your life. FYI MN has tried and convicted 2 different guys in the past several years over loads that killed people. One for an unsecured trailer that came loose and killed someone and the other was a landscaping employee who lost a paving stone off a trailer that bounced up and went through a windshield and killed someone.
Risk assessment. Is helping out your buddy (who should be paying for this anyway) important enough to risk everyone around you, plus you, while loaded to save him a few bucks? Think of things that happen. Like brake failure. These guys bragging about their overweight pickups are not heroes. Heroes are coming home everyday, real heroes. They are coming home from Afghanistan and Iraq. From a deployment in the south China Sea. Some in wheelchairs and others in boxes. Getting away with an overweight load just makes you an uncaught criminal.
OK guys feel free to attack me and call me names. I really don't care. You would say it to my face.
