Investments are about timing........Yes, buying and selling at the right time.
As I look back to my projections in 2006 and 2007 I am still under (in my IRA portfolio) I made assumptions that I would get back a 9% annual return, BUT.......The value of my IRAs declined by 40% in 2008/2009. So, I have been playing catch up. As far as guns, just going out and buying an AR-15 rifle is really just a place to put $1000, the value will not go up or down, for the most part. You have to buy real low, like a Winchester rifle for cheap from a guy that needs the money. I also think the value of guns is a hit or miss thing. Gold....? Never been a good long term investment, Silver......? Same thing. Ammo.....? It will lose a little or gain in value depending on demand. Ammo will never go to zero, or near zero due to it being a usable product. Converting IRAs to a cash type investment when I am in my early 60s will be a safe bet.
