I don't think B and D has any problem with treating fuel with anti-gel treatment. I think he is against the snake oil additives that supposedly improve performance and lubricity.
I can speak from experience that my local diesel shop wont warranty pumps or injectors unless you use Stanadyne fuel additive. They claim new fuel is "dry". As far as I can see the pumps last the same amount of time with or without the treatment. Some guys run treatments and swear by them but yet have no comparative data to back up their opinions. I wouldn't swear by any additive because other than anti get additives it would be difficult to confirm the manufactures claims. If it cant be proven to me then I'm not wasting my money.
I say the most important factor for any diesel components is good clean fuel without water, not an additive.
