Well if the main pump failed and sent metal through out the system you will need to take off everything down stream and clean/repair/rebuild it. I am not being a smart butt here that is the only way to 100% get them to work right after you get stuff in the system.
The metal gets into the control valves in the steering column and can not get back out. So it makes the valves leak across each other. SO you do not have good steering pressure.
Then the SCV valves get the metal stuck in the control valve's teflon seats. They are ruined. You have to replace all four in each SCV.
The three point is the most forgiving but it will still need to be cleans out and new seal/orings installed to make it not fail.
I would check the suction screen first. If it is clean then change the filter and hope for the best. If it is not better then start going through everything.
