Although condensors do go bad, they seldom do so. Typically, when they go bad, they develop an internal short (or very nearly a short). When/if that happens, it has the same effect as if the points were always closed, therefore, no spark would be delivered to the spark plug.
If I were you, I'd focus my first attention on the spark plugs, then the points, then the timing, then the distributor cap, then the plug wires, and finally the coil. If I still hadn't found anything wrong, I might go for a new condensor.
Check the connections carefully. Make sure that the little wire that goes from the coil to the points is well insulated where it goes into the distributor.
