The last one I got at Wally World only toasted one side of the bread. Took it back and told them it didn't work. They put it in the cart to put back on the shelf. No, I didn't buy another, or at least not from them. I have yet to find one that really works good. They either don't toast it or they burn it, but I am not going to spend a hundred on one either. I'll just go to an antique store and get an old one like Mom had. Toast one side and them flip it over and toast the other side.
