Wife bought a Cuisinart 2 slice about 2 years ago. Of course it was made in China, and maybe they never made toast there. The darn thing would make the bread too dark on the side towards the center of the toaster and too light on the side towards the outside of the toaster. We got another one on warantee, it did the same thing, so they shipped a 3rd one but it was poorly packaged and was broken when UPS left it. So we got a 4th one, and it did the same poor job on the toast. I looked carefully and it was built with more heater wires in the center section compared to the side element. So of course it will burn the toast on one side and barely tan the other side of the bread. I called the Cuisinart help line again, and they would only refund if we could find the original receipt, and if it was within the 1 year time. With all their screwing around we were beyond the 1 year, so OOL. There will probably never be another Cuisinart product in our kitchen. We bought a much cheaper brand and it works OK, but not great.
