This cold weather reminds me what Dad used to comment when he would come in from the fridged weather, "It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey out there." I often wondered what cold had to do with brass monkeys untill I looked it up and found out that brass monkeys were the racks that you stacked cannon balls on to keep them from rolling around on the ship deck. When it got severly cold the brass monkey would shrink faster than the cannon balls forcing them out of their places and off they would go. hense the saying. I think its even funnier now that I know the meaning of it.
