That long lever is indeed the differential lock and could be broken inside due to miss-use. Check that you have not a roll pin broken in your hydraulic levers. Even try gripping the rod with some visegrips and turning it. If that does't work it may have been dismantled and rebuilt incorrectly. Or one of the little rollers may have got out of place inside. Try taking off the dipstick/response control inspection plate at your right heel....drain the oil down to the level of the lowest bolt on that plate.....and check to see if the levers are moving any of the internal controls. Check that the little roller is still between the forks of the control levers. Use a screwdriver to operate the control valve to ensure it is not stuck. BUT DO NOT PUT YOUR HAND INSIDE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING!........Sam
