Yes, the brick and mortar stores have been pushing for internet sales to be taxed for several years. Many taxing authorities are licking their chops at the prospect of collecting ( and SPENDING) more revenue.
My sis lives in MA. Many folks from MA go to NH to shop because NH has no sales tax. MA requires their residents to pay them sales tax on the items they buy in NH! MA revenue people drive through the mall parking lots recording MA license numbers (they can do it electronically because of the sticker on the license plates) and cross reference with tax returns to see if the residents are paying tax on out of state purchases.
