Have a friend who used to sell the after market variety-he would NOT recommend them to anyone! Many times the vehicle would have a no start situation, they would tow it to their mechanic. Mechanic sees the remote start and freaks out, claims it is the remote starter system. Tow it to the after market installer, check it out, nothing wrong. Tow it back to the mechanic and finally he has to figure it out. Imagine the towing bill on that one! I personally will not have one unless it is a factory unit!

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity".
