Having lived through the 2002 Olympics that were hosted here, I can say that Yes, I do care.
Think of it from the athletes perspective...they put their life into becoming the best they can in hopes of competing. Give them some credit.
There is a lot of pride and satisfaction from everyone involved with hosting the games. And, it is all volunteer, something America is good at.
We had the Olypmic torch run right past the house whilst we sat on the fence and cheered. That event in itself would probably change your attitude.
We did go to several events and enjoyed them all, the biathalon probably the best, as we rode a steam train and then horse drawn sleighs to get to the venue.
On the other hand, I think the media coverage is biased towards the US teams who have a chance at a medal. They don't give as broad a coverage of all the sports. As for Bob Costas, they should yank him off the stage for good. Yes, it is a monumental waste of money, but so are a lot of other things.
Just remember this...It is the only thing left on this planet that brings just about every country together, if only for a few weeks. Priceless !
