yes, plenty of them go bad. I found a big Stihl under a huge brushpile one time. Been there in very wet climate at least 5 years. Took it apart, absolutely no salvagable parts. Water had corroded all aluminum, & plastic & metal parts were busted from brushpile being shoved together. Never found out how it got there.
