In my youth I read a lot of science fiction books. One short story was about a society maybe a bit along the lines of the book '1984'. Maybe it was even in that one.
Anyhow, folks were using solar power all over, common thing, but the solar power was taxed. So if you failed to pay your sun tax, the govt would fly helicopters with a big tarp between them, and cut off your sun until you paid up.
That was always one of those 'ah ha' moments to a young kid, of how the govt can operate and how its goals can justify its means..... It made an impression on me.
