Those so-called "lifetime" warrantees mean little to me. They are all "limited" warrantees and open to interpretation of the store you deal with. I had a lifetime warranty muffler from Advance and they refused to replace it when it rusted out after two years. Why? The warranty clearly states "We will replace any part that may fail due to a defect in materials or workmanship under normal use and service after proper installation." Since the muffler rusted out due to road salt - there were NO defects according them. Ergo, no free replacement. I also had a "lifetime" alternator from Advance that failed after four years. They DID give me a free replacement but that one only had a 90 day warranty. I.e. -the "lifetime" was over. I had similar experiences at NAPA with "lifetime" brakes. They no longer honor those warrantees.
