I avoid Exide batteries at all costs. I've had a lot of them expire well before their time.
Just the same, I'd get a multimeter on your tractor and see if it's charging correctly and I'd also use a current clamp to see if it's drawing when the engine is shut down... or use the ohm meter to see if there's a draw between the battery cables (disconnected). I do find it kind of odd that you'd have two bad batteries; odd even for Exide. Make sure it's charging at around 14v if it's a 12v system or 7v on a 6v system...
