I had an uncle who had a barn attached to the house by a long walkway 300+ feet long raised 15-20 feet off the ground. When we were kids we thought it was pretty cool to go to the barn without going in rain snow or sleet. Barn went up in flames one night in the late 70's and because of the walkway so did the house. The house was rebuit but not walkway and sold and burned again 15 years later and was rebuilt. Original house built late 1800's.
