I am glad that the license is available for those that want them. I do not want to advertise on my cars/trucks/license that I served in Vietnam or that era. There are still enough Hanoi Jane types to make life difficult for you if they want too. I will talk among friends about serving but rarely other than that.
This forum is real veteran supportive but not as many real life people/place are.
One of the Vietnamese girls went to University of Wisconsin–Madison. She was in ROTC there. when she graduated she asked me to wear my dress uniform at her graduation. (I was still on active duty at the time) I stripped my uniform of all the things I could and still not get in too much trouble if I was seen by an Officer. Still one Hanoi Jane type figured out where I had served and made a complete A$$ out of herself in front of my family. So after that I never let it be know where and when I served unless I just had too. I have talked more about it in the last 4-5 years than the previous 20-25.
There are still people that make a fuss about the Vietnam service men. It really picked up after the Afghan War started and all the Cindy Shehann types came out for their second shot at fame.
So I am glad the option is out there but not for me.
