They are an absolute beast without a doubt and one of the largest prairie tractors built.
the Kinnard & Haines Flour Cities were one of the earliest gas tractors. In 1897 they were asked to refit an Otto gas traction engine with one of their engines after the owner had repeated troubles with it. It was so successful they started buildign their own tracots and became the first company to make gas tractors a viable commercial venture. what may be the oldest survivng gas tractor is a Flour City currently undergoing a full restoration.
The four cylinder 40-70 models like this one debutted around 1911. it was a 21,000-pound beast with a 4-cylinder K-H engine of 7-1/2-by-9-inch bore and stroke that actually well exceeded the 40hp drawbar rating when it was tested in the 1920 nebraska tests making 53 hp and a little over 70 on the brake. The also built a junior 12-20, a 20-35 and a 30-50 model.
