Use 4 foot 4X4's for runners and stack the same dimensions in nice even level stacks. Use a pair of forks to stack the stacks of lumber on top of each other in a shed you can manuever forks in. Then you just use the forks to get what you want. 2nd best thing is to build a rack with a hole for each dimension to be slid in from the end. Kind of a pain because it pretty much has to be stacked longest first working toward the shortest.
