I use a Ford 501 sickle bar mower on my Ford 2000 tractor to cut 30 acres of grass hay twice or three times each year.
It's slow and it plugs sometimes, but it's what I have and it's what I use.
A junked-out, beat-up, rusted, nasty one sells for about $250.00 around here in Middle Tennessee. A good, field-ready mower would sell for close to $500.00.
