That picture is or could be a joke,but back in the 40s-50s-early 60s,if the panel was on the main floor.40-50% chance it was in the bath room(if one)or was in the kitchen next to or over the sink.We bought a house in 1970,that still had 60A 110 service in it.Old lady who had gas service and didn't need much.So those things were or still out there.
