I'm sitting here in the VA hospital waiting for an appointment I won't get into the cost because I paid with a lifetime of problems. VA care is getting better all the time. One reason is doctors and other medical personnel are flocking to the VA away from private practice or group medicine. The pay is 1/3 or 1/2 of what they were making on the outside. And the offices don't have fancy furniture. But the work week is about 40 hours plus on call. No malpractice insurance, no overhead, no politics, They don't have to deal with drug companies and insurance companies. They don't have to worry about getting paid. They have all the state of the art equipment and don't need to order every test in the book to cover their butt. These professional people are happy and have a great attitude and want to be here. They are doing exactly what they wanted right out of med school, practice medicine.
