I have a srewdriver about three sixteenths wide and heated it enough to bend a 60 degree bend about a half inch up on it. A small shaft one if you will, and use it like a tire tool to put the snap ring on. Get someone to turn rod for you. They are made to stand the cyl up and lay snap ring in the bottom center and tap the rod down and snap ring will go over the rod and lock in but wont work on all of them. Is a real pain. John Deere uses them on some models. Not what I call user friendly at all.
