First cat was just because we always had a cat. It snookered the Mrs. at the pound- acted all friendly there, but when she got it home, it wouldn't have anything to do with either of us- she was disappointed, I was doing a mental fist pump.
Second cat was because son and family moved to a place where they couldn't have a cat. Problem was, they got the cat after they knew they were moving from their present house- why couldn't have waited until they got the new place? Instead, I guess we're stuck with it. Like many things, I just keep quiet and try to get along. Grandkids look forward to seeing "their" cat whenever they come to visit. Cat, well, not so much- if somebody doesn't catch her quick, she disappears for the duration of the visit.
