The "contraption" on the International pickup in photo #3, is indeed a Thermador Air Conditioner, as properly identified by "uncle henry". When I was a youngster, my parents had one on our old "Woody" Station Wagon, and if I remember correctly they held about 2 gallons of water, and just hung on the top lip of the door. The brace went between the glass and the window frame, and you had to remember to not roll the window all the way down or the glass would catch on the brace when you rolled the window up.
THANKS for the photos and the MEMORIES!
