If possible, do a search for what type of PTO shaft that you have. I just did a quick search and what I found was a shaft 48" fully compressed could only be extended to 63", but there were different grades/ratings of shafts with different extention allowances for each grade. I personally have never seen or used a shaft extended more than half overlap (ie 48" - 72"). Having said this, I would not recommend using your current shaft maxed out to the limit. I agree with the other posts that turning and/or vibration will become an issue. It is a two piece setup for a reason.
