Went to a local auction a couple of nights ago. They had a 130 hp. Valtra tractor. I understand the Valtra to be a Finnish made tractor? Some there mentioned that they thought the Massy Fergueson was made in the same plant and possibly the same tractor now? I was told AGCO markets them primarily in South America and Europe. Anybody on here have any idea how accurate this info might be?
The Valtra brought $13,000 annd change by the way and was a low hour tractor in nice shape. There was a Kubota 4wd with a loader, low hours, looked like new, that brought $26,000 and a Case/IH 5120 2WD that brought $11,000. The auctioneer had to REALLY work to get what he got for the Valtra and the Case/IH. The auctioneer could hardly keep up with the bids on the Kubota until they got past $23,000. Of course the Cas/IH is one of the models that the hydraulic pump cost $12,000 on, too, and word is getting around. I talked with a local mechanic at the auction who told me he has figured out how to get around that. He didn't voluteer his alternative and I didn't ask.

As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
