Lou Sorry to hear you are having problems. If I'm reading this right you installed the shingles in 2002 & noticed they a curling in 2013. I am not saying the shingles aren't the problem but 11 years later is a real indication that you don't have enough ventilation. Not enough ventilation on the Ridge, not enough ventilation on the Soffit, Or Both. Before you install metal roofing be really really sure you have enough ventilation or curled shingles will be the least of your problems in the future.
